Students of the Academic High School won the ECO-Transformation competition.

More greenery and new places to relax will appear in the vicinity of our Shopping Centre. The project of an ecological space that supports biodiversity and the needs of residents was created as part of a competition for secondary school students entitled “ECO-Transformation” organized by the Nhood Services Poland team, which manages our Centre. It was won by students of the Academic High School in Rybnik, who developed innovative assumptions for ecological changes around the Auchan Shopping Centre in Gliwice. The competition finals and the award ceremony took place on January 30th, 2025.

– Congratulations to the winners! Their commitment, creativity and ecological awareness are an inspiration for all of us. We look forward to implementing all the ideas in the vicinity of Auchan Gliwice Shopping Centre – says Aleksandra Złotek, Property Manager Nhood Services Poland at the Auchan Gliwice Shopping Centre.

Six design teams took part in the “ECO-Przemian” competition, presenting their visions of an ecological space. The concepts developed by the participants included native plant species, elements of small architecture and educational functions, proving that ecology can go hand in hand with aesthetics and functionality.

The projects submitted to the competition introduced elements of small architecture, adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.

– All the submitted projects combined innovation, care for the environment and a creative approach to shaping public space. The students demonstrated deep knowledge of the environment, as well as the ability to work in teams. The competition participants were inspired by the Ecologist’s Report for the Gliwice centre and the assumptions of the UN Sustainable Development Goals – emphasises Piotr Chmielewski, ESG Manager at Nhood Services Poland.

The works presented in the ECO-Przemian competition implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals 4, 11 and 15. The fourth goal, the quality of education, is visible in the educational aspects of projects that promote ecological awareness in local communities.

The eleventh goal, concerning sustainable cities and communities, is implemented by designing spaces that are friendly to residents and the environment. The fifteenth goal, the protection of terrestrial ecosystems, is reflected in the use of native plant species and solutions that support biodiversity.
